Double perovskites – magnetism, topology, and topological transitions

November 3, 2015 - 11:00am

Double perovskites are of great interest, providing us with material examples of half-metallic high Tc ferromagnets, Mott insulating ferromagnets, as well as geometrically frustrated magnets on the fcc lattice. I will review our work studying the role of spinorbit coupling in driving interesting topological states, topological transitions, ultrathin half-metals, and Kitaev spin Hamiltonians in these systems.
