Indium Islands – A Piece of Paradise

In this talk I will review our recent results of novel molecular beam epitaxy growth of metal nano-structures (indium islands) on top of a semiconductor. The ability to have a super clean interface between indium metal (which we observed becoming superconducting at 3.3K) and a light emitting semiconductor may open the possibility of transferring coherence from a superconductor condensed state to emitted photons.
