Stripes and Bubbles in Quantum Hall Systems

The talk summarizes recent publications about NMR and compressibility measurements on GaAs/AlGaAs quantum Hall systems discussing  the determination of the spin texture of the striped phase at half-filled Landau levels and the possible detection of a pinned Wigner lattice in the tails of Landau levels [1,2] . In addition the formation of compressible and incompressible stripes at the boundary of a quantum Hall system and their importance for the current flow will be reviewed since these edge channels play an important role in transport measurements on topological insulators and Aharonov-Bohm experiments and are often misinterpreted.
